On June 26 and 27, the 2025 Mini Series Global Outreach & Branding Conference, themed "Openness, Connectivity, and Empowerment," was held at Shanghai Oriental Intelligent Media City. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as distribution, investment, business models, and copyright protection, collectively exploring new directions for the global expansion of mini series.

Charles Cheng, managing partner of Summit Zenith, analyzed the legal challenges facing the mini series industry from during an interview. He highlighted three major copyright dilemmas: the mismatch between short production cycles and lengthy copyright confirmation processes; the imbalance between legal protection costs and production budgets; and the ambiguity surrounding copyright ownership for AI-generated content (AIGC).

Cheng emphasized that as AI technology rapidly evolves, defining the copyright attributes of AIGC and transforming it into corporate assets has become a critical issue for the industry. Regarding global outreach, he advised that companies venturing overseas must thoroughly understand the target market's legal frameworks, industry standards, and cultural norms to effectively mitigate legal risks and navigate cultural differences.
